A few murder mystery readers have recommended books by Louise Penny. The library had two books of a series called a great reckoning: Still Life and A Fatal Grace.
Recently a third book The Cruelest Month was added to the series. The main character in the series is Chief Inspector Gamache.
Here’s an overview as described by Barnes and Nobel:
The Cruelest Month is the third book in the series featuring the wise and beleaguered Inspector Armand Gamache. Some of the villagers in Three Pines decide to celebrate Easter with a séance at the old Hadley House. One of their party dies in fright. Chief Inspector Armand Gamache is called to investigate. The case will force him to face his own ghosts and where relationships are far more dangerous that they seem.
New books can be found on the glass shelves and the book cart in the library.
