The Range of Voices choral society will present their 58th Annual Spring concert titled "Good News". A Concert of Spirituals. The entire concert will be a repertoire of African-American spirituals from their rich musical heritage. Spirituals are a special kind of music. Negro spirituals are religious folk songs created by enslaved Africans in America between the 17th and 19th centuries. Often, they blended African musical traditions with Christian faith. These songs, often passed down orally, expressed profound suffering, hope, and longing for freedom in this world and the next. The Range of Voices will present a "Good News" concert at 2 pm Sunday, April 12th, at Gethsemane. You won't want to miss this very special concert, under the direction of Jonathan Cleghorn and accompanied by Dawn Thompson, featuring 50-member community choir. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for school-age youth, and free for those 5 and under or a special $25 family package. A coffee an' fellowship will be served following the performance.
